TAYLOR SWIFT APPEALS TO JUNK ANTI-TERROR BILL IN THE PHILIPPINES




The Pandemic Coronavirus has put the world at a halt. But now, we are facing a  harrowing present filled with issues that could be deadlier than the virus itself.

Aside from the outbreak, series of news has outraged the many.
Take for example the Anti-terror bill that has sparked retaliations among the mass. This new bill is seen by the public as a means of undermining the voice of the people and pushing forward an era of dictatorship.

Many Philippine artists have joined the online call and let their voices be heard against the anti-terror bill namely, Nadine Lustre, Liza Soberano, Janine Gutierrez, and Gab Pangilinan, among others. But, what caught the attention of the many was when the International pop star, Taylor Swift, joined the movement to junk the Anti-Terror Bill in the Philippines.

As a staunch advocate of human rights, the Grammy-winning American singer-songwriter took the opportunity to use social media to raise some awareness on the matter namely the Black Lives Matter movement and the anti-terrorism bill that is inching closer to becoming a law in the Philippines.
With over 133 million followers on Instagram, Swift encouraged her fans on her Instagram Story through a shared link from carrd.com, a platform of a one-page website, called “blacklivesmatters.carrd.co” with links to information on how the public can educate themselves and help others in these two major advocacies.
"When you’re done: Educate yourself. This doesn’t go away once the topic isn’t trending," the shared page reads.
Once the "Junk Terror Bill" is clicked, netizens are directed to a page of petitions, email protests, and more information on the bill that will allow the Philippine government officials to detain suspected terrorists even without an arrest warrant.

Before this, Swift recently called out US President Donald Trump on her twitter post as she asserted, "stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism on his entire presidency."
She also cited Trump's controversial tweet in which he said, "When the looting starts, the shooting starts," before threatening: "We will vote you out in November. @realdonaldtrump."
As of today, Taylor Swift’s name reached more than 27,000 tweets, as well as her first name, pops out with over 583,000 tweets.
